Nick Cummings
Nick is a writer, editor and designer based out of Portland, Oregon. He and Aaron started Silicon Sasquatch in 2008 after losing a bet on a chinchilla knife fight on the outskirts of Topeka. He still bears the mental and physical scars of that fateful night. Aside from videogames, Nick is also a lifelong musician and avid music consumer. He's the sort of person who reads twenty books at a time but only finishes maybe one per month. Feel free to drop him a line! He loves the attention.

Holy crap, you guys. I can’t believe I’m still standing. Not only did I just complete my second week at my new job, but I also subjected myself to two straight weeks of going out at night for music, food and drinks. I nearly overdosed on culture, having taken in a movie premiere, a dozen [...]

Today’s episode is about the recent debate over how the Writer’s Guild of America chooses games to nominate for its annual awards — and what its justification is. Close your eyes, open your heart, and enjoy the smooth sounds of a few dudes sitting around a kitchen table talking into a Rock Band microphone for [...]

Something is rotten in the state of videogame discourse. Now that the dust has largely settled, I think we can begin to assess just what happened since the infamous “The Sixth Slave” strip (pictured above) ran nearly six months ago, and why the controversy surrounding it reached a breaking point two weeks ago. I felt [...]

It’s been a long time, hasn’t it? The last podcast we recorded took place when Mass Effect 2 was still new. We certainly have a lot to catch up on. We’ve used the last year to do some hard thinking about what worked and what didn’t with our first run of podcasts, and I think [...]

Okay, fine: So maybe we didn’t put our thinking caps on this morning to figure out what ties all three of our Backlog entries together. It’s possible that we didn’t get enough sleep because some jerk woodpecker just had to poke the hell out of a dying fir tree about five feet from a certain editor’s [...]

Still here? Good. It’s been a couple months since we last talked shop about the keyboard; I hope you’ve been practicing. You have been practicing, haven’t you? Because you know what happens if you don’t practice. If you don’t practice, you don’t get a lolly. On this second installment of our keyboard study, we’ll be [...]

Oh! Hello there. So sorry I didn’t notice you; I was busy tousling my hair and practicing my charming, inextricably British character quirks. Err-ahem. Yes. LittleBigPlanet 2 was released this week, headlined once again by a revelatory performance from your humble narrator. While those of you with a PlayStation 3 have undoubtedly snatched up your [...]

One of our greatest strengths at this site is that we each bring a markedly different set of interests and expectations to the games we play. That means we’re able to bring a wide variety of different games to the table for discussion; unfortunately, it also means a consensus in our top-ten list is notoriously [...]

Our missives have been delivered without detection, each reaching the intended recipient under the strictest of discretionary measures. Exactly 24 hours from now, we’ll all convene at the predetermined meeting spot to do our dark work in secrecy. Yeah, you guessed it. It’s that time of year where a bunch of dorks get together to [...]
